Jess Talks About Her Past

Hey everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but the computer I use for all of my blogging isn’t working right now, so I have to wait for a chance to get on my mom or dad’s computer. And now I can finally post! Yay! ๐Ÿ˜€

image

On Friday afternoon Annika and Jess were just hanging out and getting to know each other a little better.
“It must be hard for you to get used to such a ginormous family. Especially since you’ve never had any brothers or sisters of your own.” Annika said kindly, but just as she was about to continue she noticed a sad look on Jess’s face. “Jess, are you okay? I didn’t mean to make you upset.” Annika apologized.

image

“It’s not your fault. It’s just that- I have had siblings before…” Jess’s voice trailed off and tears welled up in her eyes.

image

“What happened to them?” Annika asked. “But, I understand if you don’t wanna talk about it.”

image

“No, it’s good to talk about these things with someone. It can be comforting.” Jess let out a sigh and began her story, “You already know that my parent’s died just a few weeks ago. They were archaeologists and I went with them on their last trip. They had to sail to another part of the island, but it was nighttime and there was a storm. Everyone, including me, tried to convince them to wait until the storm had passed, but they didn’t listen. I watched them sail away and I saw the sea devour their ship.” By now, Jess had tears streaming down her cheeks. “Every time I close my eyes at night I see my parents and their ship being destroyed.”

“Oh, Jess! I am so sorry that you had to see that and also that you’re parents died. But-” Annika paused as she tried to figure out how she was going to ask this. “But, you said you had siblings. Were they on the ship, too?”

“No, they weren’t. They died four years ago, when I was 10. Heather and Jason were my older brother and sister. Heather was 16 and Jason was 17. We all went on a trip to Belize with our parents, for their work. And one day we three were exploring in one of the caves when suddenly it began to cave in. Since I was younger they sent me running first while they grabbed our backpacks. I made it out of the cave safely and I remember seeing their faces filled with fear as they were running out and they were almost safe, but-”

Jess turned her head to away to hide her tears.

image

“But, what?” Annika asked.

“The rocks fell in front of them. They didn’t make it.” Jess replied, her voice shaky from crying.

image

Annika jumped from her seat and gave her sister a big hug. “I am so sorry, Jess!” Annika said and she, too, was crying.

image

Jess tried blinking away her tears, but they still came pouring down. It was going to take a long time to get used to her new family.

Did any of your “daughters” ever know their real “parents”?

  • Oh poor Jess! The poor little girl!
Who is that doll in the bed in the sixth photo?

  • Oh my gosh, that is so sad! Poor Jess ๐Ÿ™
Everyone but Rebekah, Isabelle, Kit, Abbie, and Cody knew their parents (I, but the ones who didn’t have somewhat tragic stories, but not ultra tragic, like Cecile’s parents and brother died of Yellow Fever when she was three, so she doesn’t really remember them, however ones like Julie have a little bit more tragic, her parents and sister died in a plane crash when she was ten, so she remembers them vividly. Though I don’t like to include their background on the Meet My Dolls page because it’s a darker side of their past.

    P.S. Jess arrived!!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ D ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  • I prefere to pretend that my dolls really are siblings. Sometimes I like to play with one doll and put her in her story…… Like play that Rebecca has asleep over with her cousin Ana.(which happened in the book) Jess. Is . Adorable!

  • Awww! Tell Jess that Kanani knows how she feels. When she was only two her parents died on a ship as well. ๐Ÿ™

Hmm, well Nellie was 10 when I adopted her. She knew her parents but they both died. ๐Ÿ™ (Acordding to the books.) I think Ruth’s parents probably could not care for her and the orphanage found her on the doorstep. They tried finding her parents, but they never found her…she didn’t get adopted ’till she was five. (By me) So, yea, she didn’t know her parents. xD ๐Ÿ™

Um, let’s see, none of my others. That’s all.

  • *cries* Poor Jess! So much sadness to happen to such a young girl… ๐Ÿ™
And she saw her parents die. That must have been so traumatizing. :'(
I hope Jess’ new family can help her through the pain.
    Kellyโ™ฅ

  • Oh, what a tragic story. ๐Ÿ™ But fortunately, now, Jess has lots of sisters. ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t really play stuff like that, though, so I don’t really know if they ever knew real parents or not. That sounds kind of weird. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Aw, poor Jess ๐Ÿ™ She has such a sad past! My dolls really don’t have a past, they’re all kinda my “kids” that weren’t adopted ๐Ÿ™‚

    ~Abigail โ™ฅ

    • I know, I feel so sorry for her ๐Ÿ™
Oh, I get it. I’ve played like that before ๐Ÿ™‚
      ~Jaclynn~

      • Yeah, but I’ve never had that idea of having the dolls being adopted. Maybe I’ll start doing that now, and make little stories for them ๐Ÿ˜€

        ~Abigail โ™ฅ

      • i prefere to play like that also.

      • Tell Jess Isabelle knows how she feels Isabelle’s Mom died from a car accident when she was three years old , so she hardly remembers her , and her dad is a soldier in the Air Force and died when she was two years old . And Emily’s parents died in a Plaine crash when she was one years old ๐Ÿ™ And Isabelle does the same thing as Jess Poor thing ๐Ÿ™

  • All my older girls (18″) do and so do the middle (15″) girls. Becca Ana remembers her cousin Rebecca, and her family, who is the only family she has left, and she’s very excited to see her sometime. But we don’t know when.

  • Oh I’m so sorry, Jess! That must be so hard, because even though you’re happy to have a new family, I’m sure you still really miss the old one!
Let’s see…well each of my dolls is a little different, based on when I got her/him.
    Ellen–my “biological daughter. ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Mini Molly–same.
Samantha(actually my cousin’s doll on long-term loanout…)–Her parents are alive and distant relatives of mine, but they can’t take care of her right now. She looks forward to the day when she will be reunited with her parents, but in the meantime we’re her family.
Emily–Her parents died in the World War II bombings of England. I know there’s a bit of a time gap, but I just pretend that was like a year and a half ago, shortly before she came to me.
Murphy(boy doll…)–He is my “biological” son.
Elsie–an orphan of a someone I knew. Her father died before she was born, and her mother succumbed to the (imaginary)epidemic when she was two, so she doesn’t remember either one. She lived in an orphanage before I found her early last year.
So yeah…all of my dolls are sorta characters in a book I’m writing, so there’s more to their stories which would take really long to explain. But that’s the gist. And I really liked this post, by the way, even though it was sad, because each doll’s story is what makes it unique. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love to hear your other dolls’ stories too.

    • Oh wow..That was a super huge comment. Sorry about that. ๐Ÿ˜›

    • Yes, it is very hard for her right now. She’ll sometimes just go sit on the bed when she’s sad or missing her family ๐Ÿ™
Awww, such sad stories ๐Ÿ™ So, did Emily know her real parents?
Oh, that’s cool! I hope your book turns out well ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it ๐Ÿ˜€ Yes, that’s so true.
Well, to tell you the truth I haven’t really thought of stories for everyone. Most of them have just been in the orphanage since they were super little until I adopted them ๐Ÿ˜›
I should think of something for each of them, though. It’d be fun and sad ๐Ÿ˜›
      ~Jaclynn~

      • Yes! ๐Ÿ˜€

        ~Lydia~ <3

      • Aww! I feel so sorry for her!
Yes, Emily knew her parents and lived with them until the bombings. Before they died, they sent her to America, so she could live safely. Shortly after she arrived, however, they were killed by one of the bombs. At the time she was living with the McIntires, but when she learned about her parents death, she was sent to live in an orphanage. I heard about her and then adopted her.
Thanks! Well, it’s a bit down the list as far as books to write go, but I will definitely write it one day, as it is part of (what I think is) a very powerful story. Maybe one day you’ll see my name on a NY Times Bestseller list, lol!
Yeah, well maybe some of them share their stories to make Jess feel better. If I were you, I’d do someone unlikely like…well Caleb is probably too young ๐Ÿ˜› so maybe Eli because he’s a boy (but he’s also older, so that could fit well) or Marie-Grace cause she’s shy (but also very caring). Or perhaps Kanani. Anywho, just a suggestion. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • Oh, I see. Poor Emily ๐Ÿ™
          LOL! That’d be cool!
Yes, that would be so sweet! I think Eli would be a good idea since he’s a boy and it could show his caring side ๐Ÿ™‚
          ~Jaclynn~

  • My Sam is the only one whom I’ve adopted and I pretend that she didn’t like her last parents (the people who bought her) becuase they gave her scratches and stuff.

  • Aw, poor Jess ๐Ÿ™
Nope. For them, they know that they are dolls and they have a made-up story, they are true to their heritage (they aren’t embarrassed to wear historical clothes) and they know me as their forever mom to some and guardian to others.
    ~Madison~

  • So sad! You came up with some pretty awesome stories. Because of the AG face molds, Jess looks like she’s smiling the whole time, though. xD But, y’know, sometimes ya just gotta work with what you have. xD

Saige’s mother died shortly after Saige was born, so she never knew her. Her father died when she was 8, of disease. To Jess, she says, “Crying is fine, we all do it. Just remember that we’re all here for you! Stay strong! As long as you have your friends, your courage and your love, you can push through!”

    • LOL! Yeah, well I think they all do, but that’s just how it is ๐Ÿ˜›

      Aw, poor Saige ๐Ÿ™
Jess says, “Thank you SO much, Saige! You are so right! *hugs*” ๐Ÿ™‚
      ~Jaclynn~

  • Jaclynn- I tried to post a comment a couple of days ago, but it never got posted. Is it still in moderation? Thank you! ~Marble

    • Hi Marble!
No, I don’t see any comments from you that haven’t been posted… Maybe you should try again? It probably didn’t go through ๐Ÿ˜‰
I’m so sorry about this ๐Ÿ˜•
      ~Jaclynn~

      • No no, it’s totally fine! I probably didn’t hit the post button before I closed the window. Silly me! Here it is:
Julie’s dad died, when his plane engine failed overseas, leaving her mom with Tracy, Julie, and her shop. Her mom couldn’t keep up with all of it, so she sent Julie to her dear friend (me), and I gladly took her in, at least until her mom can handle her again. But with a kid who always wants things to be fair, I don’t know why I would give her up!

  • To be honest this post was kinda depressing.. ๐Ÿ˜• And dark. :'( ๐Ÿ™

    • Aw, I’m sorry ๐Ÿ™
      I hope I didn’t get scare because I really didn’t mean to! ๐Ÿ™
      ~Jaclynn~

      • No, you didn’t scare me, it’s just sad. (This was a cool idea tho) With my dolls I just pretend AGP is an adoption center and that everyone is nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Don’t feel bad, this was a cute post. I’m sorry if I came across as mean or something.. ๐Ÿ™

        • Okay, that makes me feel better ๐Ÿ™‚
No, you didn’t sound mean at all! I just felt bad cause I thought I scared you, but everything is okay now ๐Ÿ™‚
          ~Jaclynn~
P.S. I sometimes think that the AGP is the orphanage, too! ๐Ÿ˜€
