It was a normal day at the animal shelter with puppies barking and kittens meowing. And Kirsten was quite tired of hearing Josefina complain about this little kitten who would not drink the milk it was offered.

“Oh, finally! What a good little kitty!” Josefina exclaimed as the new kitten drank it’s milk. Kirsten giggled and let out a sigh of relief. “I told you he would take some once he felt comfortable and got to know you! See, he’s even letting you pet him, which he wasn’t allowing at first either.” Kirsten stated.

She turned her head and saw a young lady standing by the door. “Oh, hello! Welcome to River Creek Animal Shelter. My name is Kirsten.” She greeted.

“How may I help you?” Kirsten asked as the lady walked up to the desk. “Well, I just moved here and I’m all alone in my new house. So I thought it might be good for me to have a pet to keep me company.” The girl explained.

“I believe we have the perfect pet for you! Come on back here.” Kirsten said as she opened up the swinging door.

Kirsten pointed to a little orange and white striped kitten playing with a ball of yarn. “This little kitty would be great for you!” She said.

The girl leaned over to get a better look at the kitten. She couldn’t help but giggle as she watched it play.

“May I hold her, please?” She asked. “Oh, of course!” Kirsten replied.

“Here you are.” Kirsten said as she handed her the kitten.

As the girl held the little kitten she smiled.

And then, the cutest thing happened! The kitten seemed to be smiling back at her! She giggled and said, “I think I’ll call you Amber.” Kirsten looked at the girl and said, “So, you’ve decided to take her?” The girl smiled. “Oh, yes! She’s coming home with me.”
