Fun Finds

Meet Belinda :)

Yesterday, I went to the thrift store with my mom and sister. There were SO many dolls, it was amazing!! Although we had 6 dolls in our hands, I had to choose one to buy. Let me show you who I got – I’m so in love with her! πŸ˜€

image

Can you guess what doll she is? πŸ™‚

image
If you guessed Karito Kids Leza, then you are correct! We got her for $6- a great price! She had so many marks on her and her hair was a complete mess! The ends of her hair are still not in the best condition, but with the way we styled it, you can hardly tell! πŸ™‚

image
She didn’t come wearing any clothes, so I made this dress for her last night, since dresses go by more quickly and she just really needed some clothes on πŸ˜‰

image
Look how nicely her legs can cross!! I love that!! She has a little trouble standing, though…

image
I named her Belinda (her nickname is Lindy) and she is 16 years old. The reason I made her so old is because she’s really tall- 22 inches!

image
Her head can be posed in so many different ways! Looking way up, way down, straight, side to side, or tilted! I love dolls with more movable heads πŸ˜€

image
At first I kept thinking she was cute, but now she has totally grown on me! She’s SO PRETTY!!

image

image

Her hair and eye color are so pretty!

image
In case you’re wondering, to get off all of the marks that were on her vinyl, I used Magic Eraser. There are still a few marks that won’t come off, though. I’ll probably try something else πŸ™‚ And as for her hair, I washed it with shampoo and conditioner, combed it out and set her down to dry. Within a few hours, her hair was dry! My mom also cut her hair for me and styled it with her hair straightener. I wish her hair could’ve been longer, but apparently her previous owner gave her a really uneven hair cut πŸ™

I LOVE this picture!! πŸ˜€

Oh, my goodness, it was so funny! Right when I took this picture and right when the sun came out, I felt a drop of water on my hand – it started raining!! Β There was a rainbow, too! I love rainbows πŸ˜€

image

And here is a height comparison of Belinda and Kaya. As you can see, Lindy is much taller! πŸ™‚

They’re so sweet!! πŸ˜€

Have you ever heard of Karito Kids Dolls?Β

Amazing Thrift Store Find!!!

Sometime last week, my mom and I went to the thrift store just to see if they had anything doll-ish there. We checked the back first, where they have stuffed animals and sometimes dolls, but didn’t find anything interesting. Then we went to the front to look at the dolls that are behind the counter- we found an Our Generation Doll and a Bitty Baby!! We were going to buy the Our Generation Doll, but realized that it wasn’t that much cheaper than buying it from Target, so we passed on her (but yes, we did buy the Bitty Baby!). As we were looking around, still trying to find an AG doll, I looked down and saw………

Mia’s Bedroom Furniture!!!!!!! I nearly had a heart-attack!!! Unfortunately, it was $99.99. Too much money for us to spend.
But, when we bought the Bitty Baby, they gave us a coupon for 50% off anything that was only good to use Tuesday or Wednesday. So on Tuesday we went and I was hoping that the furniture would still be there! This time we went straight to the counter and there it was. I told my mom that I could put around $30 towards it, that way she would end up only spending $20- it was a deal!

image

So here it is!! We bought it for only $50!!! Mia’s Bedroom Furniture was originally sold from American Girl for $125 and included the chair, mattress, and pillow. All is included, except for the pillow. We also looked it up on eBay just to see how much it was selling for- I could easily sell it for around $300, but I’m keeping it πŸ˜›

image

The chair is so adorable and I love the roomy desk area!

image
On this side, it has two drawers that open and close, as well as a little closet/cabinet.

image

The door to the closet/cabinet has a mirror inside and four shelves. This is a great piece of furniture for storing things! πŸ˜€

image
The bed pulls out and the mattress unfolds to fit on the bed. It can also be pushed in, and the mattress velcros closed to make a seat πŸ™‚

I have always loved this set and thought it would be such a neat thing to have, so I am VERY happy to have this!! I had a lot of work to do on it, but I am very happy with the way it turned out. I will be posting more photos of it all new and clean tomorrow and pictures of the Bitty Baby will be coming soon as well πŸ˜€

The Lilac Tunnel- My Journey with Samantha Book Review

A few days ago, my mom and I stopped by Michael’s Craft Store (for another reason that I’ll be telling you all about soon! πŸ˜€ ) and while we were there, I stumbled across The Lilac Tunnel My Journey With Samantha book! My mom bought it for me to read for school and I was so hooked with this book, that it was hard for me to put it down!

image

The front cover is so pretty!

image

I took a picture of the description of it on the back, too πŸ™‚
(psst! Click on the picture so you can read it! πŸ˜‰ )

image

I love this little introduction! Just reading it, you KNOW that you’re going to love this book! πŸ˜€

So, let’s get on with the review!

How much is the book? It is $9.99 and totally worth it!

What is the book about? You’re a 10 year- old, modern day girl who is given a locket and when you open it up- you are transported back in time to 1904. There you meet Samantha who ends up being one of your best friends πŸ™‚

image

Why do you love the book so much? I think the main reason why I love this book so much is because you can read the story so many different ways, and yet it all still has the same concept. Above is an example where you choose what happens next. And once you end that version of the story- you can go back and see how it ends when you make a different decision. It’s just such a neat idea and I love the creativity that is put into this book πŸ™‚

Would you buy another “My Journey With __” book? Absolutely!! I would love to have them all someday! This is a book that I can read again and again! I highly recommend this book!

Relaxing At The Pool :)

Ugh! It is SO hot today- it’s like 108 degrees!! Isn’t that disgusting? I hate the heat, but I LOVE to go swimming in our pool! Annika hadn’t been swimming yet so she wanted to go for a quick dip πŸ˜‰

image

Annika- “Hmm.. That’s a pretty big pool! I think I’ll just stay in the shallow.”

image

Annika- “Whew! The water felt a little cold, but it still felt great!”

image

After her swim she wanted to lay out and try to get a sun tan.

image

Aaaah… How relaxing πŸ™‚

If you’re wondering where I got the chair my mom and I found it at Jo~Ann about a week ago. It was broken and on sale for about $4 and we asked if they would take the price down lower since it’s broken- we ended up only paying $2 forΒ it!

My grandpa is so amazing, too! He fixed it for me- I love my grandpa πŸ™‚

What do you like to do on a hot day?
