Discouraging Words~ A Photostory

Hi everyone! I got to thinking how it’s been a super long time since I’ve made a photostory, so today I set aside some time to make a short photostory for you all. I hope you like it! 🙂

“Aren’t these guitars great, Dallas?” Eli asked with an excited smile.

“Yeah! That was awesome of mom to buy them for us!” Dallas agreed.

“Oh so this is where all that music is coming from.” Lana observed as she walked in the room.

“Yeah, mom bought Dallas and me some guitars! Aren’t they cool?” Eli asked.

“Oh, sure. They look cool, but how do they sound? Go on, play something, Eli.” Lana urged her brother.

“Well, okay.” Eli agreed and strummed a few notes on his electric guitar.

“Hm. That wasn’t so bad.” Lana said, not sounding very impressed.

“Your turn, Dallas. Play something.” Lana ordered her brother.

“Yeah, come on, Dal!” Eli urged him.

“Well, I don’t know…” Dallas said, not feeling very confident.

“Ha! I bet you don’t even know how to play!” Lana sneered.

“I do, too!” Dallas defended himself and placed his fingers on the strings and began to play.

When Eli heard him, he felt sorry he had encouraged him to play. He just knew Lana was going to pick on him, but when he looked at her, she seemed to be smiling. He wondered if perhaps she was enjoying it.

Dallas strummed the last chord and looked at Lana who had her nose up in the air.

“That was the worst thing I have ever heard in my entire life. I can’t believe mommy wasted her money on a guitar for you! You can’t even play! She should have spent that money on something that could actually be played well by somebody. Like a piano for me!” Lana said full of disgust.

“It’s not a waste! I just can’t play very well yet!” Dallas shouted angrily.

Lana leaned over and said, “Dallas, you will never play the guitar well because you don’t have the skill it takes to play it.”

When Lana had left the room, Eli tried to cheer up his brother. “Aw, don’t worry, Dal! Lana always says things like that to everybody. You’ll learn!” Eli encouraged him.

“No, Eli. I think she’s right.” Dallas mumbled as he set his guitar down. Eli frowned and decided it would be best to leave Dallas alone for a while.

After about ten minutes, Jocelyn walked in the room. “Hey, Dallas! What are you doing?” She inquired.

“Nothing.” He replied.

Jocelyn sat on the floor and gave Pepper some love. Then she said, “So I heard mommy got you and Eli some guitars. Why aren’t you playing it?”

“Because I can’t. And, well, Lana heard me play and she said I’ll never be able to play well.” Dallas explained.

“Ooh, I see. Well, have you ever played the guitar before today?” Jocelyn inquired.

“No, this was my first time.” Dallas answered.

“Well, look, you can’t expect to be the best guitar player ever after just 5 minutes of playing. And that goes for anything. If you’ve never done it before, how could you know how to do it perfectly? Just give it some time. Keep practicing and some day you’ll be so good that Lana will wish she had never said what she did.” Jocelyn said.

“I guess you’re right… Thanks, Jocelyn.” Dallas said gratefully.

Jocelyn smiled and said, “No problem.”

THE END

Arent the guitars so cute? I got them at The Dollar Tree a few weeks ago! I think they’re perfect for dolls, but I just wish they could hold them more realistically. Oh well, it still works great! 🙂

Do any of your dolls play the guitar?
